The VR Club's Top VR Arcade Titles
October 21, 2019 | 6 min read
Every month we sit down with VR Arcade Operators from across our network to chat with them about the key pieces of content that drive customers into their locations and keep them coming back for more.
Sometimes it’s the new releases, custom Arcade modes, or just fast loading times... but one thing is certain––no one knows what excites customers better than the VR Arcade Operators themselves.
This month we chat with Peter Laurent from The VR Club in Auckland, New Zealand!
Q&A with Peter Laurent of The VR Club
Q: What are some of your top performing titles year-round?
“These are popular because they appeal to kids and teens, the main demographic for my VR Arcade. None of them require the use of the Vive grip button which kids, in particular, find difficult to use. All of these games can be enjoyed in short bursts of 10 minutes or less and have endless replayability.”

Q: Sometimes great titles slide under the radar, can you share any great titles that perhaps people haven’t heard of yet?
Rec Room
“Rec Room is often disregarded by VR Arcades as being too difficult. There are a ton of options but if it's well setup to automatically load into a private server then it can be very rewarding for players (and free for VR Arcades).
Rec Room's paintball is the most played multiplayer game at The VR Club at birthday parties because of that, and because it's one of the few games which support more than 4 players in multiplayer.”

Furious Seas
"Furious Seas is very well-liked at The VR Club because it's something different from the countless other games which involve guns. It has a unique selling point sailing a pirate ship and has nice realistic graphics with dead simple and intuitive controls."

Q: What features make these titles great for VR Arcades?
"All these titles load quickly, have simple controls so as not to confuse the player.
Most importantly, a game must make the player feel something, whether it's fear in a horror game, feeling like a badass in Serious Sam, a salty pirate in Furious Seas, or just the spirit of competition in Rec Room paintball."
Q: What pieces of Content have surprised you and why?
"Rec Room - The perfect party game with paintball and laser tag for large groups which I can now load into in less than 30 seconds using console commands and SpringboardVR’s batch launch, the developers are incredibly helpful and responsive and it's free. It's consistently surprising how amazing this game is and its developers Against Gravity."
Peter has been operating The VR Club since its launch in June 2018. The VR Club is located one mile from Takapuna Beach in Auckland, New Zealand and is quickly outgrowing its space. Peter is looking to add a new location, having maxed out his current space.
Prior to VR, Peter was a 3D animator working on everything from casino slot machines to architectural walkthroughs and litigation graphics, more recently working on a few upcoming VR games including the HL2VR mod.
“I own and operate The VR Club by myself, which has been the most challenging and rewarding thing I've done in my life so far.”
